    Description

    Available is a Antique Victorian Custom Framed Iroquois Native American Beaded Purse/Whimsie. These purses and whimsies were made by the Native American Iroquois women of the Niagara Falls area for sale to tourists. The purse is in good condition with some missing beads. I had this framed about thirty years ago, so I do not remember the condition of the lining though I would guess it is good since the purse is in such great condition. I do seem to recall that the back side is unbeaded, the leather strap was added by the framer to help hold the piece in place. The purse measures 6-3/4 inches at the widest and 6-1/2 inches high not including the leather strap. Overall dimensions with the frame are 11-1/2 inches wide and 14-1/8 inches high. This item dates to the 1880's.
