    Description

    This is a great little New England beaded purse or bag with a heart motif in the middle of each side, circa 1850 to 1870s, or so. Bag is 4 3/8" x 4" in size, and the handle extends another 5" above the top of the bag. This bag is in near mint condition with no beads missing or replaced, and all of the fabric is intact and perfect with no wear, no tears, no holes, and no bug damage. The beads are tiny seed beads in good early colors, as pictured. The background is a brown linen, and the edging is red linen tape with a red silk handle. This piece must have been stored away as it is in just about the best condition you ever find one. This was just found in New England, and the heart motif is not common to find on Native beadwork.
